Executive chef Marino Tavares works to ensure every meal is prepared to perfection. As a proud creator and advocate of the legendary Ferreira approach, Tavares believes culinary pleasure is an experience that renews itself with each mouthful. His knowledge of fish and seafood preparation will almost certainly change your definition of the words delicacy, joy and perfection.

Tavares is a gold medal winner in the Gold Metal Plates Competition and was honored as the Star of the Gala des chefs 2008 benefit. Tavares also participates and devotes a lot of his time to numerous charity events in and around the city. His dynamic and enthusiastic energy and professional efficiency place him in both high regard and demand.

Since its opening, Tavares has been at the helm of the Ferreira Café kitchen, ruling the operation with precision and expertise. He masterfully ensures that every grilled fish is to perfection, that the seafood rice is consistently served in its distinct richness and the integrity of the Portuguese cuisine is unfalteringly upheld.

Originally from São Miguel in the Azores Islands, Marino was six years old when his parents immigrated to Montreal.

"Ferreira cuisine is Portuguese cuisine based on the principles of fresh and healthful products from the sea. We're not afraid to mix spices and ingredients or meat and seafood on the same plate all while keeping the meal light and delectable," states Tavares.
